Services-Involving Our Families

Therapy Should be a Family Affair!
We firmly believe progress accelerates when families get and stay involved in their loved-one’s therapy. With parents and caregivers sitting in on sessions asking questions and giving feedback, we build valuable relationships creating an atmosphere that best benefits our kids. In a written testimonial, one parent wrote: “MMPT is a wonderful place to be. The entire staff is very friendly and welcoming. From our first day here they treated us like family. They welcomed us unto their hearts and their lives. MMPT is very open to any suggestions you may have to improve their clinic…” And, this is exactly what we want. We want our families to feel comfortable enough to bring any suggestions, problems and concerns to our attention. Armed with your feedback, we can better serve you and your child. Keeping this in mind, we work hard building trusting and open relationships with our pediatric clients and their parents, and we do this in a number of ways: For starters, several times a year we observe special occasions when parents, siblings and/or friends are invited to participate. For example, once or twice each year we’ll have an open house, an annual Easter egg hunt, and a Christmas gift exchange. Additionally, scattered throughout the year, our kids have fun with movie nights, and (for the girls) slumber parties at the clinic or one of our homes. For our older kids, we occasionally hold a separate movie night where the kids are brought to the local cinema to participate in life; in as normal a way as possible. Placing our kids in this environment forces them to experience social situations and practice appropriate social skills. Additionally, we are involved in the Kidfest portion of Alphafest, a large community awareness event held annually in West Monroe, Louisiana. Also of interesting note, one of our Physical Therapists, Karl Kaufman is on the board of directors for Families Helping Families of Northeast Louisiana.
